Professional DJ / Music Conceptual Developer / Head DJ Lecturer

Clive’s music career started in 1994 with his involvement at his High School events in the Johannesburg East Rand Township, Vosloorus. This was highly inspired by his collection of mix-tapes that included the greats like Ganyani, Tokzen and Bob Mabena’s drive time show that played on Radio Bop. His musical taste at the time covered a wide range of styles: Hip Hop (Krs-One, Keith Murray, De la Soul, etc.), Funk (Ashford and Simpsons, Kool and the Gang, Diana Ross…) and more specifically House music. This led him to a career in the South African Music Production and DJ Industries in which he has been a recognized player for the past 16 years. His discerning taste and skill as a DJ has seen him invited to grace stages through out South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Swaziland, Germany, Kenya, New York City and recently Switzerland.

In 1999, he joined Suga Trax (a vinyl and DJ’s accessory store), which was renamed SoulCandi Records. Clive has conceptualized and co-ordinated his own events for years. He has been commissioned by Levi’s® to compile a series of South African Afro/Deep House music, for its stores all over South Africa. As part of SoulCandi’s current A&R team, Clive is a Compiler for International and National Dance Music Compilation CD’s. Clive now also combines his career as a professional DJ with teaching. He is currently the Head DJ Lecturer at the SoulCandi Music Institute, in Johannesburg. He has been, to date, employed by SoulCandi Music Group for the past 11 years.
